BEK® Blade Extraction Kit

The BEK® Blade Extraction Kit is a purpose-built assisted rescue system for retrieving an incapacitated worker from inside a horizontally positioned wind turbine blade back to the hub. Its pre-assembled 4:1 haul system provides mechanical advantage for casualty retrieval, while the 37-meter tag rope allows rescuers to establish a retrieval line before an emergency occurs.

Why It's Used

Extracting an incapacitated worker from deep inside a wind turbine blade presents a unique rescue challenge: confined access, limited room for rescuers, and the need to move the full weight of a casualty back toward the hub. The BEK® provides a dedicated, pre-configured solution that allows rescue teams to establish the retrieval system in advance and reduces the amount of equipment preparation required during an emergency.

This equipment must not be used unless and until you have received direct, personal instruction from a qualified instructor experienced in all phases of vertical rope work. Such instruction must include a full evaluation of your understanding of, and ability to perform, all tasks necessary for the safe and proper use of this equipment. Do not attempt to use this equipment under any circumstances until you have been instructed, evaluated, and expressly deemed competent by your instructor.
