3M™ DBI-SALA® Rollgliss™ R550 Rescue and Descent Device Kit

The 3M™ DBI-SALA® Rollgliss™ R550 is a fully automatic controlled-descent and assisted-rescue system designed for emergency evacuation and rescue from elevated work areas. Its bidirectional design, integrated rescue lifting capability, and 3/8 in (9.5 mm) kernmantle rope allow trained rescue teams to perform controlled descents, evacuations, and assisted rescues with one versatile system.

Why It's Used

Rescuing a suspended or stranded worker may require more than simply lowering them to the ground. The Rollgliss™ R550 allows a trained rescuer to raise a fallen worker enough to disengage their existing fall-arrest system before transitioning them into a controlled descent.

Its bidirectional design also allows one end of the lifeline to ascend as the other descends, supporting efficient evacuation and rescue operations from elevated structures.

Key Features

  • Fully automatic controlled-descent system
  • Designed for rescue, evacuation, and assisted-rescue applications
  • Integrated rescue lifting capability
  • Bidirectional operation
  • Dual-brake design
  • 3/8 in (9.5 mm) super-static kernmantle rope
  • Connecting hardware at both ends of the lifeline
  • High-strength, corrosion-resistant construction
  • Aluminum and stainless-steel device construction
  • Designed for one- or two-person rescue applications within specified limits
  • Multiple rope-length configurations available
  • No external power source required for controlled descent

Compatibility

The Rollgliss™ R550 is designed for integration into a site-specific fall-protection and rescue plan using approved anchorage, compatible full-body harnesses, connectors, and other equipment appropriate for the rescue scenario.

The rescue model's integrated lifting capability allows a trained rescuer to raise a suspended worker sufficiently to disengage the worker's fall-arrest system before beginning controlled descent.

Always confirm the specific R550 model, rope length, anchorage requirements, user capacity, and compatible equipment before use.
