Yates® Spec Pak

The Yates® Spec Pak is a patient packaging and extrication system designed for confined-space, vertical, and technical rescue operations. It combines the support of a full-body lifting harness with an integrated polyethylene back support, giving rescue teams a compact system for securing, moving, and lifting patients through difficult-access environments.

Why It's Used

Moving an injured or incapacitated worker through a confined or vertical environment can require both patient stabilization and a secure connection to the rescue system. The Spec Pak combines these functions into one purpose-built patient packaging system, helping rescuers maneuver patients through tight spaces and transition into vertical or horizontal lifting operations without requiring a separate victim harness.

Key Features

  • Integrated full-body lifting harness for patient packaging and extrication
  • Polyethylene skid board provides back support and a smooth sliding surface
  • Grab handles at the head and sides assist with movement through confined spaces
  • Self-adjusting sliding cervical restraint supports the patient during vertical positioning
  • Standard lifting bridle with leg support sling included
  • Adjustable head and chin straps included
  • Patient hand restraints included
  • Durable, weather-resistant carrying bag with shoulder strap included
  • Carrying bag features a top connection point for lowering the system without a patient
  • Designed for patient movement in confined-space and vertical rescue environments
  • Made in the USA

Compatibility

The standard Yates® Spec Pak Model 900 includes the Yates 905 Standard Lifting Bridle with leg support sling.

Use of the lifting bridle is recommended for most lifting operations. Yates states that the Spec Pak will not function in all lifting modes without the appropriate lifting bridle.

The upper D-ring attachment is intended only for short-duration lifts, ideally five minutes or less. Extended suspension from this attachment can increase patient discomfort and the risk of suspension trauma.

The Spec Pak provides limited spinal immobilization. Appropriate spinal immobilization, including a cervical collar when required by medical protocol or patient condition, must be used in conjunction with the system.
